Gurren Lagann is coming! July 28th...

Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann is coming to stateside television! Sci-Fi Channel is picking it up to be put on their Ani-Monday block of TV programming and what's even better news is that it will be shown in a subbed format which will be quite refreshing to see especially compared to all the butchery and recycled cast dubbing of what Adult Swim generally does with their properties (*cough, Bleach) so finally, there's going to be something worth watching on that channel again besides Enterprise/Battlestar reruns...

I have to thank my friend Carey for suggesting such an awesome series a couple months ago because this is a really good anime and I think having this put on american TV will give it the much bigger audience and a hopefully larger fanbase because this show definitely deserves it. It's from GAINAX, the creators of such great shows like Neon Genesis Evangelion and FLCL so if you liked those shows you should like this one too.

I wish I had my own mighty Gurren Lagann,

A-kon 19 - 2008

I never did get to write about my first time ever trip to A-kon this year on my livejournal last month so I guess this space will have to do...

On second thought, I'm too lazy to write about everything that happened so instead I'll leave a link to a site that did a damn good job covering one of this year's best anime conventions. (at least their photos are nice)

Samurai 7 Part 2

What happens when you combine a show like Gundam and Samurai X together? Samurai 7 comes out of course. It took me a few days but I just finished watching the 26 episode series and it was well worth the time spent and a great interpretation of the original story with some interesting twists thrown in there with the last few episodes. You know your watching a good show when you start to mentally root for the well being of certain characters to make it through alright and boo the bad guys. This show felt more like a really long movie than a TV series and the quality except for one "recap" episode really shined with good quality animation throughout and the only bad news I have about this series is that I'm gonna have to add this to my list of must-have shows to own and I really can't afford it right now!

Hysterically Cute

Lolcats have been around for quite some time now but I've just now started to look through some of the entries that gets posted to the icanhazcheezburger blogsite and this one (above) in particular almost killed me. Its one of those that when you look even harder at the picture you just keep laughing even more. It really reminded me of Cowcat and made me want to do one so here's my thrown together five minute version of one of these just for Hannah...

Samurai 7

I always did like the Akira Kurosawa classic (and even the Magnificent Seven version) so I don't know what took me so long to find and start watching this anime version of the story but I'm very glad I did! They went and sci-fi'ed it up a bit but kept the old samurai type traditions and added cool badass-ness all over the place. I've seen six episodes so far of the about 26 available but it already oozes with some of the coolest sword fighting scenes this side of Samurai Champloo. You can't really compare the two shows that much though since this one takes its fights much more seriously but there is plenty of humor as well from a certain 'machine samurai' as they call him. I definitely recommend watching this series if you have the time to kill...(chop chop)

Bodog Beta

Wow, Bodog's new user app is so much better than their usual setup. You can finally change the size of the screens, 'bout time! I think it's still limited to just three games at a time though, haven't tested that part out yet...

---

I kinda swore to myself that I wouldn't join any other poker site until I got my act together with Bodog but I gave in and downloaded Pokerstars last week. Their graphics are nicer but there's hardly any sound! I guess you have to upload your own but I'm too lazy right now. Still haven't made a deposit yet...just poking my head around.

Hannah Pictures!

Hannah Videos

Just a couple from December...

MEOW TIME!

There's only two people that I know of personally who would sacrifice goats for their cat if they knew that it would please them in any way shape or form--one definitely being my grandma who once told me that she sometimes eats her cat's dry cat food because as she says, "...its just like Cherrios!" No it isn't nana. No it isn't...

The other one would be my friend Daniel who probably worships "The Boy" more than his own girlfriend anything else on Earth and would gladly move to a planet ruled by them if ever such a place existed.

That being said, I've strangely but surely have been finding myself to become almost no different now that Billy and I have our own kitty, Hannah. We've had her for over a year and even though she sprays on stuff every now and then I can't get mad at her. I instead get mad at Billy for not caring for her better and whatnot. I'm becoming an old cat lady and just to prove it I'm going to post a bunch of Hannah stuff on here.

Please forgive me...

EVE Online

I used to play World of Warcraft a lot. Like for over three years alot. Billy loves it but Billy hasn't been playing it for three years. I'm plain sick of it now and I quit my subscription last month but since then I've sort of started looking around for a replacement time waster. Gamespot had a great article recently about the top dozen best free MMO's out today but I looked into them all and I still didn't want to play any of them. So what did I do? Well I'll tell you! I spent the last three days reading up on everything there is to know about this game called EVE Online, a sci-fi MMO that caught my attention from the mmorpg.com site. It's been out since 2003 and looks very complicated (freaking hard probably) but I think I'm all for a new challenge. WoW was and still is too linear for my taste and so I think EVE with its "sandbox" type of gameplay might suit my style a little better but we'll see. I just downloaded the 14 day free trial a minute ago and so well here goes...

Oh they have a website now, check it out!

Lunchtime!

I've been craving sushi like mad for weeks now, so I finally just went to get some from the only Sushi-ya our town has, Nakamura Sushi. I hadn't been to this place in months, and not because I didn't want to...it was just that no one else would ever want to go with me! I guess I could go eat there by myself but...that's no fun! This time I made Billy go with me. He hates rice, so naturally I knew he wouldn't want to get anything but he wasn't that hungry either so he just had himself a Sprite while I feasted on one of my favorites: Unagi-nigiri and the Monday special, which happened to be California Rolls. I did notice that the menu had changed pretty drastically from the last time I had come here with my mom. They really shrunk the choices down a bit from the huge list they used to have. They probably just finally figured out what sold and what didn't in this town so a revision would make sense I suppose. They did add eggrolls for $1.50 each on the new menu but don't bother getting them as they really aren't worth the price. Walmart sells egg rolls in bundles of five for just a dollar more than what they charge here and they taste BETTER. Same goes for the Shrimp Balls, way overrated if you ask me and so not worth the $7 they charge. Luckily everything else I've had here so far has been great so I hope this place sticks around awhile longer. Now only if they would add inarizushi to the menu, I'd be here everyday!

Rebirth

My blogspot cherry has just been popped.

This space will be now be where I get to babble on about everything and nothing on a hopefully daily basis.

Enjoy!
